Harvest Restaurant Oro Valley

Who doesn’t like to “keep it local” these days?  Lately, we have really been forgoing the chain restaurants in favor of sampling some great fare that originated closer to home. Harvest in Oro Valley is just such an example. We have been there for dinner once, and lunch twice.  The dinner was fantastic, and the ambience of the restaurant really seems pretty posh at night in comparison with other local offerings, but it has been the lunches that really knocked our socks off.  The menu choices are not run of the mill at all, and the portions are pretty enormous.  At our first lunch I opted for an old time favorite of mine- grilled cheese. But this was not the staid grilled cheese I was accustomed to as a child. It is touted as the Caprese grilled cheese- and if there was ever a fine marriage between a salad and a sandwich- this is it. The ingredients were super fresh and the abundance of fresh basil just made that sammie sing! The fries that accompanied were absolutely delicious- and I was seriously shocked 20 minutes later when I realized I had devoured the entire plate.  My husband had the braised short rib sandwich on our first outing ($9.75), and the pulled pork ($8.75) when we went back again just yesterday. Both times he said they were absolutely delicious, and he is fairly particular when it comes to his food. The ranch dressing that he asked to dip his fries in was really unlike any other ranch we have tasted- soooo good! Yesterday I had the turkey sandwich, with avocado, daikon sprouts, locally grown tomatoes, cucumber and citrus aioli, substituting the artisan baguette with multi-grain bread instead ($8.25).  Of course- more of those outrageously good fries!! As mentioned- the portions are really big- and combined with the fact that the food is superb, I can confidently say that we have found one of our new favorite lunch spots. There are also all sorts of daily specials including Lobster Mac & Cheese (!!!) on Wednesdays and Sundays, Happy Hour specials, and a Sunday brunch (with an all day Happy Hour). Get over there and see what you have been missing! Happy Harvesting!- HB
