Not to overplay the same record, but I am SO excited about all the wonderful growth in the Oro Valley business sector! As this beautiful community continues to flourish, it seems as though it is almost impossible to keep up with everything new that is happening. Fortunately we have the wonderful people at the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce to keep us all in the loop! Here is the rundown from their latest economic update newsletter. Securaplane Industries is constructing its new, 55,000-square-foot manufacturing and office facility at Tangerine and Innovation Park Drive. It’s the first new business within the Chamber-endorsed Innovation Park economic expansion zone. A memory care facility is also identified as a potential tenant in Innovation Park;
Summit Hut opened its doors to huge crowds over the Fourth of July weekend in Oro Valley’s Oracle Crossings;
Long Realty is finishing space in the brand new Shoppes at Oracle, on Oracle near Hardy;
LA | Fitness continues construction on its new, multi-million dollar fitness facility on the northeast corner of Oracle and Hardy;
Work has begun on the San Dorado project by Kitchell Construction at the foot of First Avenue on the east side of Oracle Road. The project will include 274 apartments, as well as commercial space on Oracle. CVS Pharmacy and Panera Bread are committed to build at the site;
HSL Properties’ Encantada at Steam Pump Village apartment project is rising from the ground at Steam Pump Village. It’ll have 270 apartments.
Other apartments coming: Oracle and Linda Vista, El Corredor, 220 units. Final design permissions have been secured. Total apartments for the 3 projects – 764 units.
Recently opened: Mattress Firm, Oracle south of Magee; The Joint Chiropractic, Oracle Crossings; Dollar Xpress, Oro Valley Marketplace; Planet Fitness, Rooney Ranch / Target center; Ala Buzz Café, Rancho Vistoso and Oracle; The Good Egg, Rooney Ranch; GMG Chinese Bistro, at ever-busier Lambert and La Canada; AZ Massage Center, also Lambert and La Canada with Oro Valley Florist, and Northwest Allied Physicians on the way; Fry’s fuel station, La Canada north of Lambert; Cattlemen’s Café 2, San Jose Plaza on Oracle; Tutoring Center,Catalina Hills Botanical Care and Halo Hair, all newly opened in the Safeway Center, Rancho Vistoso and Tangerine.
In development: Milano Nail Salon, Entrada de Oro; Great American Playhouse, in the former Ike’s, Oracle and Rancho Vistoso. In that center, Oro Valley Bicycle is expanding and relocating, and Pusch Ridge Design and Remodel Center is finishing space; Anam, Inc., San Jose Plaza; St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Tangerine west of La Cholla; Oracle Vista Memory Care, moving ahead at Oracle Vista Centre, Oracle and Desert Sky.
Brisk activity on the home front: Meritage Homes,88 lots, nearly all sold, and Lennar are now selling and building Hohokam Mesa in Rancho Vistoso south of Splendido. Rancho de Cobre, 68 lots, Maracay, La Cholla and Glover; Rancho de Plata, 50 lots,Meritage, La Cholla north of Glover, 27 lots identified, Vistoso Highlands and Rancho Vistoso; Maracay, the north end of La Canada, 348 lots; a new 70-lot proposal in Stone Canyon. Total single-family residential permits in OV were 220 for the just-concluded fiscal year. There’ll be more in 2013-’14.
