Sun City Oro Valley (formerly known as Sun City Vistoso) is an impressive active-adult community located adjacent to the master-planned community of Rancho Vistoso in Oro Valley, Arizona. The Del Webb/Pulte built homes of Sun City Oro Valley are situated in the northeastern corridor of Rancho Vistoso and are surrounded by beautiful high desert. The expansive community of Sun City Oro Valley includes a vast array of amenities and offers homeowners spectacular views of the Catalina Mountains. Many homes in Sun City are also adjacent to Sun City’s golf course, The Views Golf Club, offering beautiful views of the fairways and greens.

The homes in Sun City Oro Valley were built between 1987 and 1995 by Del Webb (Pulte Homes), and the completed development features just under 2,500 single-level homes. Ranging in size from 1,035 to approximately 2,800 square feet, the homes in Sun City offer a variety of two- or three-bedroom floorplans. The community includes freestanding patio homes (not part of a condo association), townhomes (serviced by condo associations), and almost 2,300 single-family homes. As an 45-55+ active-adult community, age restrictions do apply for residency in Sun City Oro Valley.

A number of homes in Sun City Oro Valley are situated on perimeter lots, offering homeowners unparalleled, panoramic views of the Catalina Mountains and Pusch Ridge. Generous sidewalks throughout the community are perfect for evening strolls, and Rancho Vistoso residents living in Sun City Oro Valley can also enjoy easy access from their neighborhood to the spacious walking paths and designated bike lanes that stretch along Rancho Vistoso Boulevard.

Sun City Oro Valley offers residents resort-style, active-adult living. Community-wide amenities available to homeowners in Sun City include an 18-hole golf course (The Views), three separate recreation centers including multi-purpose rooms, card rooms, dance studios, billiard rooms, arts and crafts, sewing and woodworking shops. The sports complexes include one large, and one smaller heated pool and a large indoor spa, with handicapped access, exercise rooms, a racquetball court, a nine-hole miniature golf course, eight tennis courts (six of which are lighted), and lighted bocce ball and pickle ball courts.

Sun City Oro Valley also features The Vistoso Center, which includes a computer learning center offering classes through the Institue of Learning in Retirement, an extensive library (hard cover, paperbacks, books on CDs, DVDs, large print books, and reference books), the Sun City Vistoso Community Association offices, a genealogy center, and conference rooms. A horseshoe pit and croquet court are also available, in addition to a picnic area located adjacent to the main recreation center.

This beautiful community is not lacking in the social department. Sun City Oro Valley boasts clubs ranging from arts and crafts (everything from painting, woodcarving, sewing, ceramics, glass working, quiltmaking, photography and more); games clubs ( many different bridge clubs, Canasta, Cribbage, Mah Jongg, Gin Rummy, Poker, Scrabble, Mexican Train Dominoes to name a few), book clubs, writing clubs, financial clubs, history, science and more.

A vibrant culture interests base is also prevalent at Sun City Oro Valley which includes dinner shows, musical events, “Prepare and Share” gourmet events, and opportunities for Sun City Singles to meet and mingle at events set up just for them. Those who which to enrich their minds as well as their circle of friends will find groups and classes for readers, writers, philosophers and more. There are also travel clubs for daytrippers or RV enthusiasts (no excuses- those who don’t have an RV can stay in close by motels along the route!).

For keeping active and in shape, there are a plethora of options available at Sun City Oro Valley. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, residents will find an array of dance and exercise classes and clubs running the gamut from aerobic dance to ballroom, rock and roll moves, country line and square dancing, water aerobics, Tai Chi, Yoga and even Karate. Sports and fitness activities ranging from billards and bocce to biking, hiking and even the popular “WallyBall” are sure to keep you in tip top shape and having a fabulous time meeting new friends.

There are also all sorts of services, resources and support groups for residents- whether you need assistance or want to offer help.

Residents of Sun City Oro Valley may also want to take advantage of some of Rancho Vistoso’s wonderful amenities located nearby. Homeowners in Sun City are located just a short drive away from Honey Bee Canyon Park, one of Oro Valley’s most popular hiking and birding destinations. The well-maintained walking and biking paths located along Rancho Vistoso Boulevard are adjacent to Sun City, and homeowners may also want to take advantage of any one of Rancho Vistoso’s wonderful community parks located nearby. Several parks are located within a few minute’s drive of Sun City Oro Valley, including the popular Wildlife Ridge Park, scenic Hohokam Park, and the Woodshade Linear Trail located off of Rancho Vistoso Boulevard. Nearby Catalina State Park is also a popular hiking destination for Rancho Vistoso residents living in Sun City Oro Valley.

Sun City Oro Valley is located on the northeastern corridor of Rancho Vistoso. Homes in this part of Rancho Vistoso are known for offering spectacular views of the Catalina and Tortolita Mountains, open spaces preserve the beauty and tranquility of the Sonoran high desert. Homeowners living in the active-adult community of Sun City Oro Valley will enjoy the benefit of being slightly removed (yet just minutes away) from the busier shopping centers located near Rancho Vistoso. Shopping, dining, the new Oro Valley Hospital and the Oro Valley Marketplace are all located just a short drive away in Oro Valley.

While there is nothing else quite like Sun City Oro Valley in Rancho Vistoso, there are other adult communities within the Rancho Vistoso boundaries such as Vistoso Village. Additionally, the communities of Saddlebrooke One and Two, and Saddlebrooke Ranch are all about 15- 20 minutes from Oro Valley to the north.
