As far as senior resources go in the Tucson and Oro Valley area, the Pima Council on Aging is hands down the “go to” place for resources, advocacy and program. The offer assistance and information on everything from caregiving support to employment for seniors, help lines, transportation assistance, elder rights, Medicare and more. If you are in need of senior resources or assistance- this should be the very first place you try.
Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Arizona is another wonderful resource that offers programs and resources for seniors, including counseling.
Note - I have utilized both these organizations to assist an older friend, and found them to be very responsive and highly empathetic.
The senior portion of the USA.gov website also is a place to obtain a wealth of information. Some topics include grandparents raising grandchildren, money and tax information and advice for seniors, contact information for federal and state agencies geared towards seniors, consumer protection and more.
H.E.E.D (Health, Education, Employment & Discounts)- The Oro Valley Veterans Support Initiative is an online information website providing valuable resources to veterans and their families. Visit their website today, and also meet them in person most Saturdays at the Oro Valley farmers market. The are eager to provide you any guidance they can. Wonderful group!!
